A chance meeting

Oil paint and charcoal on board wooden canvas

I recently had my brother look into our geneology. What we found out was very interesting story of generations ago.
Did these people who had met for the first time of their lives over 100 years ago, realise at that very moment that their childrens, children, would marry and have children?
Did this meeting of two men from two very different worlds understand that this day that perhaps the future was set there and then? Perhaps at that handshake.
I do wonder about that day and smile and hope that perhaps they may have realised it was a very important day.

I like to think that our ancestors are around us all the time and in this painting the women are important and we can step into this painting and be apart of that time and place.
